This privacy policy describes how the Gas Price Converter application for Android ("Gas Price Converter" or "the app") handles information on the device where it is installed. Gas Price Converter is developed and published by James Warkentin ("the developer").
1. Information collected
Gas Price Converter does not collect, transmit or share any personal information. The prices and currencies entered in the app are used on the device only and are never sent anywhere. The developer receives no information about users or about how the app is used.
Gas Price Converter contains no user accounts, advertising, analytics or crash reporting.
2. Internet access
Gas Price Converter uses the internet for one purpose, which is to download current exchange rates. The rates come from Frankfurter (https://frankfurter.dev), a public service that republishes the daily reference rates of the European Central Bank. Frankfurter is operated independently of the developer.
The request asks for the rates of four currencies against the Canadian dollar. It contains no information about the user, the device or the prices entered in the app. As with any request made over the internet, Frankfurter's servers receive the IP address of the device making it. The developer does not receive this information and has no access to it.
The app downloads rates when it is opened, no more than once every 24 hours. It also downloads them when the user chooses "Update exchange rates" from the menu.
3. Link to the developer's website
The app's About screen contains a link to the developer's website. Choosing the link opens the website in the device's browser. The website's own privacy policy applies from that point.
4. Information stored on the device
The only information Gas Price Converter stores is the most recent set of exchange rates and the date they were downloaded. This information remains on the device. If the user has enabled Android's backup service, Android may include it in the device backup stored in the user's Google account. Uninstalling Gas Price Converter removes it from the device.
5. Changes to this policy
If a future version of Gas Price Converter changes how the app handles information, this policy will be updated and the effective date revised accordingly.
